RIP Muhammad Ali

R

It’s bittersweet to see this man go. He’s been trapped in his body for so long it was difficult at times to accept the fact that he was still alive. He’s the most eloquent athlete I’ve ever seen. There will never be another like one like him. A true warrior poet. Rest in peace

RIP Lemmy

R

Ian Fraser Kilmister – aka Lemmy – died today. He’s the father of heavy metal and a perfect example of what I refer to as a vocal instrumentalist. He didn’t “sing”. His voice (and his bass) were the bludgeoning instruments of Motorhead. He was a hard drinking, chain smoking, unapologetic, remorseless,  rock star. I never got a chance to see him live and other...

What season is it?

W

Checkout Whole Foods Pinterest board. What do you notice? Look again. It takes a couple of seconds. (Hint: Read the post title.)

Social needs to be timely and seasonal is a kind of meta-timely. Login and rearrange your boards to be contextual. It’s like Tweeting about a Christmas event in March.

Foursquare eyecandy

(I tried to add my comment but LinkedIn wouldn’t allow me to comment. Probably too long.) Below is my comment. Simon – This is a pretty good post and have a different perspective having used the service since...

The Starbucks app needs to be more contexutal

T

I’ve been playing with the Starbucks app for awhile and I like some of the things it does. I especially like the geofences it creates when I select my favorite stores. (When you get close to one of your favorite locations, the app creates a push alert that essentially lets you know you’re close AND they are ready to charge you for a drink!) I like this because I’m a geogeek and...

The real issue with privacy

T

IMHO I pretty much nailed how privacy needs to be handled on a person-by-person level here. But we can’t even get to this point if we don’t solve one issue that 100% of everyone agrees needs to be solved. Security. As a consumer, I can’t even begin to worry about how you’re going to use my data if you can’t protect my data. I am not an identity theft expert but I do...
